Every week, we dig in the archives for videos that we find noteworthy, memorable, or just unbelievably stupid. And then, Jon McMillan breaks ‘em down for you. Why Video Hangover? Because when you watch as many videos as we do, you’re going to feel it afterwards.

New Crystal Castles Video - "Air War"

Author: admin | Filed under: Stereogum

Bonus points to anyone who can tell us the formula that was needed to come up with the 8-bit sundae video for Toronto duo Crystal Castle’s “Air War.” No peeking.

This + This = this. That was fun. What about this version?

Crystal Castles is out 3/18 on Last Gang.

Wandering the woods with Dead Meadow can get trippy. The video for “What Needs Must Be,” from the Lovecraft-loving Los Angeles-via-D.C. trio’s fifth album Old Growth, was shot at a “haunted hunting lodge” and includes all sortsa greenery, a creepy warlock, amniotic water blurs, some forever-chased girl in a white dress, and a masque lunch, culminating in a dusky costume-ball live show.

The song, put to tape in rural Indiana, is a pleasing enough psychedelic stoner jam — the kind we’ve come to expect from the boys (the album has some lute on it, kids). As far as the video? Immortal did it better.

Old Growth is out 2/5 on Matador.

Lykke Li Goes To The Bathroom

Author: admin | Filed under: Stereogum

To play a song, silly. Although, Ms. Li isn’t above running some sink water, taking spoons to porcelain, and flushing the toilet for added percussive effect. New song “I’m Good, I’m Gone” is on the menu while she’s in the cramped potty, featuring a dude on shaker and another on guitar. The adorability factor is high with this one. Just remember to wash your hands when you’re done, Lykke! People are watching.

Win Butler Weighs In On Barack, Hillary

Author: admin | Filed under: Stereogum

As NME pointed out, over at Win’s Neon Bible blog, under a post called “good god please don’t buy it,” the Arcade Fire front-runner gives his two or three cents about the current Democratic Primaries. To quote:

I am watching Hillary Clinton in her victory speech in New Hampshire … they just threw a bunch of college kids behind her, and had her talk about student loans, and had her daughter come out for a long awkward hug … does anyone actually buy it? Surely young people are too media savvy to be fooled by this kind of shit.

Maybe. From there the Texas-born Canadian digs into the bigger questions. Can I get a witness?
